Mai Savanh Lao (“Silk from Paradise”) is a Fair Trade Lao Silk and Tea Company established in 2005 in Laos and a member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) since 2009.
The flagship product is the silk scarf, available in various qualities and colours. But Mai Savanh continues to be innovative, constantly developing new products like silk knitting yarn and pouches for cell phones.
On the site in Sekong, Mai Savanh started to grow varieties of tea and cultivating Spirulina, a high-nutritional algae which is partly sold and partly distributed to fight child malnutrition.
Mai Savanh adhered to Fair Trade principles from the outset and was one of the founding members of Fair Trade Laos. Since 2009 it has become internationally certified (FLO-Cert).
